1. Overview
The following describes how Decompose can be used to extract objects from images.
We will cover the following topics:
- Choosing a good image:
Some images are better suited than others for decomposition. In this section
we explain what makes an image suited or not.
- Drawing a mask:
Decompose uses the mask as the initial approximation of the objet. The better
the mask, the better the result will be.
- Saving the result:
Once the object has been extracted, it can be saved as a TIFF with transparency
and then loaded in your favorite image compositing software. Here we show
how Adobe Photoshop
can use the saved image.
- Tips for better results:
Finally, we give some tips to improve and get better results.
1.1 Requirements
Before we start, make sure you have the following:
- Mac OS X 10.2 or higher
- If you will be doing compositing (adding the object to another image),
you will need another software such as Adobe Photoshop.
Enough talk! Let's get started!
